Here is the story of kuldhara village in Jaisalmer which the caretaker and locals told me during my visit at Kuldhara Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. Kuldhara village story says that around 200 years ago there was one community named Paliwal Brahmins who used to live in Kuldhara village near Jaisalmer. There was one ruler/chief who was famous for his harsh treatments, he hused to collect Diwan(tax) a lot due to that people were forced to live in misery. One day Chief/ruler was a girl of the Kuldhara village in Rajasthan and fell in love. She might be the daughter of the chief of Paliwal Brahmin. As the ruler liked the girl he told Brahmins either let me marry her or else you all have to pay even more Diwan(tax). Ruler gave only a day to them to think about the proposal. They all got scared as neither they want to give their daughter to that cruel ruler nor they had capital to give to the ruler in the form of Diwan. Eventually entire Paliwal community decided to leave the village at night along with their belongings and shift somewhere else. So,they all left the village at night and before going Paliwal Brahmins cursed the ruler that no one will be able to live in this village nor any civilization will establish here. Since that day Kuldhara village nearJaisalmeris is still abandoned and considered as one of the horror place in Rajasthan.
